David Letterman responded to threats against him on a terrorist message board Monday, telling his audience, “Tonight, you people are more, to me, honestly, more than an audience … you’re more like a human shield.” He went on to joke that he was late because he was “going through the CBS life insurance policy to see if I was covered for jihad,” and his Top 10 list was “Top 10 things that went through my mind after I heard about the threat.” (Example: “Why is my staff in such a good mood?”) Letterman also noted that the State Department was investigating, adding “but everybody knows it’s Leno.”
