Lettuce too? True Leaf, a California lettuce grower, recalled 2,498 cartons of romaine shipped to wholesale distributors in 19 states and Canada on Thursday after a random sample bag was found to be contaminated with listeria, the same deadly bacteria blamed for a multistate outbreak. The listeria was traced to cantaloupes grown by a Colorado farm, and the outbreak has thus far claimed the lives of at least 15 people and made 84 more ill across 19 states. The FDA said no illnesses have been reported from the dirty lettuce. Meanwhile, Manning Beef has recalled some 80,000 pounds of beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli.
