Liberia, which has the highest death toll in West Africa from Ebola, deployed security forces on Wednesday to quarantine a slum in its capital, Monrovia. The orders from President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf came after reports that in some neighborhoods, the care for the sick and burial practices that involve touching the body have continued. In addition, it was found that people in the slum were stealing items covered in the blood of victims. So far the Ebola outbreak has killed 1,229 people in the region.
