Libyan forces have retaken the ISIS stronghold of Sirte, a monitoring group said Saturday. The group, Al-Bunyan al-Marsous, says Libyan forces engaged in major battles with ISIS late Friday before regaining control of the city, one of the group’s most significant strongholds outside of Iraq and Syria. The advance comes after a major two-week offensive by the Libyan forces that saw the air force launch six air raids against ISIS. Libyan soldiers have already swept for and removed IEDs in the area, and also reopened a road between Sirte and another village that had been closed down.
