But will there be snacks? Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has invited Steven Spielberg to screen his new film Lincoln at the U.S. Senate on Dec. 12. Deadline reports that, while many films have screened at the White House, this may be the first time that one has played in the actual Senate chambers. Reid is reportedly a big fan of the film, which is expected to be a major Oscar player. “The irony is that what’s happening with the fiscal cliff isn’t that different from what’s going on in the movie,” a “film insider” tells Deadline. Considering that Lincoln clocks in roughly four score and seven years long, let’s hope the senators use the time to get inspired.
