LinkedIn Corp. is being sued by Katie Szpyrka, an Illinois woman who is contending the company broke its promise to members because its security system allowed for hackers to steal more than 6 million passwords. Filed in San Jose, Calif., on June 15, the lawsuit is seeking $5 million and holds a class-action status. LinkedIn, which has more than 160 million members, called the lawsuit frivolous and said it was being driven by “lawyers looking to take advantage of the situation.” Many experts have said it will be difficult for her to prove that she was harmed by the situation. LinkedIn maintains that no one’s account was breached because of the incident.
