London Fashion week kicked off this morning, blue skies smiling on the neo-classical surroundings of Somerset House which this Fashion Beast will be calling home for the next five days.
Fresh off the plane from New York fashion week was the British Fashion Council's new chairman, Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet, who launched proceedings declaring that London had the most "creative, nimble and dynamic" fashion industry in the world, at a breakfast for global press notable for the fact there was very little competiton for carbs, so I ate them all.
I know we are supposed to be focused on all the fashion innovation and investment, the involvement of Marks and Spencers, the digital strategy which will see 21 shows streaming live on the internet and official sponsors Vodafone (thanks guys) but personally I couldn't get over the cute, mismatched cups and saucers in which a welcome cup of English breakfast was served to the primped and preened press pack. Even the fussiest of drinkers couldn't resist.
First show this morning was Zoe Jourdan, with MTV's Laura Whitmore in the front row, followed by Bora Aksu.
