L'Wren Scott To Show In Paris; Cindy Crawford Designs Discount Line

Maiden Voyage: Designer L’Wren Scott has cancelled her New York Fashion Week show in favor of Paris. Her infamous presentations, staged on the final day of the week, provided editors with a sit-down lunch as her wares walked about the room. Scott, who is the longtime girlfriend of Mick Jagger, is reportedly moving her show’s location to allow for more time to finish the collection -- similar to what Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen did for their Spring 2011 collection of The Row two years ago. Less Than Usual: Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, the expansive show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute that showcased the careers of Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli, closed Sunday with less than spectacular attendance numbers. A total of 339,838 people was nowhere near the number of the museum’s record-breaking show last year, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, which was extended twice and attracted a total of 661,509 viewers. It apparently fell short of several other recent exhibitions as well. [The New York Times]
Model/Designer: As if promoting the merits of Dr. Sebagh’s miracle creams on television weren’t enough, Cindy Crawford has now designed (and obviously) modeled a collection for European discount retailer C&A. The 31-piece range is filled with off-duty model basics like slim jeans and oversized sweaters, all costing between 12€ and 149€. Look for the designs to hit Germany this Fall. [Fashion Telegraph]
Sitting Pretty: English designers like Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton and Burberry’s Christopher Bailey have created some seriously haute one-off chairs to benefit Jamie Oliver’s new charity, The Better Food Foundation. [Vogue UK]
