After an irate blogger started a backlash against MAC’s Rodarte makeup line, the cosmetics company has decided to kill the line altogether. Set to hit shelves in September, the hotly anticipated line was apparently inspired by a road trip the Rodarte design team took through Texas and Mexico, and included a mint frost nail polish called “Factory,” and a pink frost nail polish called “Juarez”—named after the drug-plagued “murder capital of the world,” according to CBS News. MAC and Rodarte had initially issued an apology for the line and pledged to set up a charity to help victims in Juarez. Now, they’ve decided to pull the line completely. MAC made the announcement on the company’s Facebook page, saying: “Out of respect for the people of Mexico, the women and girls of Juarez and their families, as well as our MAC Mexican staff and colleagues, MAC has made the decision not to ship the MAC Rodarte limited edition makeup collection.”
