Seth MacFarlane didn’t exactly have a peachy time hosting the Oscars last year, so he’s handing the stage over to someone else for everyone to roll their eyes at. “Traumatized critics exhale: I’m unable to do the Oscars again,” MacFarlane wrote Monday on Twitter. Despite his divisive performance, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron both defended him, and he was reportedly asked to host the Academy Awards again in 2014. “Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep,” the Family Guy creator joked. He added that he “highly recommended the job,” calling Zadan and Meron “two of the most talented producers in the business.” And on a final, tongue-in-cheek note reminding us all that next year’s host could be worse, he recommended Joaquin Phoenix for the job.
