The hits keep on coming for Madonna’s troubled Raising Malawi charity: Eight former employees of the charity in Malawi are suing the singer after they lost their jobs when the school plans collapsed. Last week, Raising Malawi’s board was ousted amid reports of financial mismanagement—including spending by employees on offices, cars, and golf memberships. Madonna has given $11 million of her own money to the charity and sits on the board. Some of the workers were directly linked to the school project, while others taught Kabbalah, a form of Jewish mysticism of which Madonna and other backers of the charity are devotees. The school had been intended to educate 500 girls and prepare them to be female leaders of the future. In addition to the employees' lawsuit, villagers who gave up their homes for the project are also angry, the Malawian government said.
