MAGA World Tries to Cancel Doritos Over Trans Influencer’s Branded Video
CHIP ON THEIR SHOULDER
Doritos has become the latest target of the right’s cancel culture crusade, with Bud Light-hating conservatives everywhere rallying around the hashtag #BoycottDoritos this week, according to Rolling Stone. The snack giant came under fire after its Spanish division partnered with Samantha Hudson, a 24-year-old transgender influencer and singer, for a 50-second branded video that was published on Sunday and has since been scrubbed from its social media pages. Hardline right-wingers flocked to dogpile on Hudson, resurfacing some of her years-old deleted tweets, including at least one in which she disturbingly suggests she’d do “depraved things” to sexually abuse a minor. While Rolling Stone reported that Hudson has acknowledged such posts as a product of her edgelord adolescence, hardline celebrities like Chaya “Libs of TikTok” Raichik were quick to denounce her as a “self described p*do.” A Doritos spokesperson confirmed to Rolling Stone on Tuesday that the company had removed the branded video and parted ways with Hudson, citing her tweets. “We strongly condemn words or actions that promote violence or sexism of any kind,” the spokesperson said.
