Nobel Peace laureate Malala Yousafzai said Sunday she is aiming to raise $1.4 billion this year to educate Syrian refugee children. The Pakistani education activist will introduce her proposal Thursday at a conference in London, where world leaders will meet to discuss raising funds for humanitarian crises triggered by the Syrian war. An estimated 700,000 Syrian children housed in refugee camps in Jordan, Lebanon, and other Middle Eastern countries are not in school, according to a report issued by the Malala Fund.
