An iOS bug is causing the iPhone Messages app to crash or reboot after receiving a specific string of text. The bug appears to exploit the app’s preview feature’s inability to render the characters, which are neither alphanumerics or emoticons. If received while the phone is on the lock screen, the entire phone reboots. In a statement, an Apple spokeswoman said, “We are aware of an iMessage issue caused by a specific series of unicode character and we will make a fix available in a software update.”
