The bodies discovered on Long Island beaches may be the work of as many as three different killers, according to local news reports. The first four bodies discovered on a barrier island all belonged to Craigslist prostitutes. However, police have since discovered the bodies of a man and a toddler, suggesting that either the first killer did not limit his murders to prostitutes or that someone else used the beach as a dumping ground. Making things even more complicated: Remains found at a nearby beach are too old, a source tells the New York Post, to be connected to the first four corpses. It’s possible that they are the victims of Joel Rifkin, who admitted to killing 17 prostitutes in 1993. Several of his victims were never found.
