Man Dies in Human Cannonball Act

Safety net failed at English stunt show.

Police reported that a man died on Monday when a safety net failed to catch him during a human cannonball performance at a daredevil stunt show in England. The accident occurred at Detling's Kent County Showground, and the stuntman was airlifted by medics to Maidstone Hospital but did not survive. His name and background remain unknown, though a Kent Police spokesman said the young daredevil was in his 20s. The Scott May website has posted a statement saying that the show is canceled "until further notice." Scott May's Daredevil Stuntshow has been touring the U.K. since 1991 and was originally established in Cornwall to raise money for local charities.
