NEW YEAR'S TRAGEDY

Man Kills Wife and 2 Grown Children

Before turning gun on himself.

A troubled man in Modesto, Calif. shot and killed his wife and two grown children before turning the gun on himself on New Year’s Day, according to police. Officers responded to a call late Thursday from a man who said he’d just killed his family. 57-year-old Stephen Mingham had shot his wife, Janet Mingham, 56; his daughter, Nicole Mingham, 34; and his son, Chad, who was 33. All four lived in the home together. Stephen Mingham’s brother, Joe, told the AP that his brother had retired from a career as a woodshop teacher at a junior high school to spend time caring for his daughter, who had suffered a brain injury.
