Cindy Laporta, Paul Manafort’s former accountant, was fired from her firm after testifying that she knew Manafort’s tax returns contained false information. According to Bloomberg, Laporta said Friday in federal court that she went along with the ex-Trump campaign chairman’s scam because “she was worried Manafort and his right-hand-man Rick Gates would sue.” Although Laporta was given immunity in exchange for testifying against Manafort at his trial, that didn’t prevent her from being booted from her job at Virginia firm Kositzka, Wicks & Co. The company said it was “shocked” by her testimony and confirmed that she was “no longer working” there. “While the firm believes that her actions were related only to work she performed for Mr. Manafort, and that no other client was affected, a detailed, independent internal review is being conducted to confirm that her activity was isolated,” the firm said.
