Police have two people in custody and are searching for a third suspect in Kansas in connection with the shooting of an officer and a driver in northeastern Oklahoma, authorities said Thursday. During a police chase near the Kansas border, one of the three people in an SUV allegedly opened fire and shot an officer in the head, said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Dwight Durant. The officer was airlifted to a Tusla hospital and his condition was unknown. The officer was awake when he was transported in the helicopter, Durant added. Police apprehended two of the suspects while the third person carjacked another car and shot the driver before pulling away. The second victim’s condition was not immediately clear. The suspect crashed the car in Liberty, Kansas, and is still at large.
