It was the Twitter beef that no one knew they needed. Marco Rubio has hit out at Salt Bae—the chef and viral sensation known for his distinctive method of seasoning meat—for serving food to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Salt Bae, real name Nusret Gökçe, rustled up a salty steak to Maduro at one of his restaurants in Istanbul. But the Republican Florida senator, seemingly oblivious to Salt Bae’s internet fame, was incensed. “I don’t know who this weirdo #Saltbae is, but the guy he is so proud to host is not the President of #Venezuela,” he wrote on Twitter. “He is actually the overweight dictator of a nation where 30% of the people eat only once a day & infants are suffering from malnutrition.” Rubio went on to post the full address and phone number of Salt Bae’s steakhouse in Miami—“in case anyone wanted to call,” he wrote.
