Florida Senator Marco Rubio has won his re-election race, defeating Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy. Rubio previously pledged not to run for Congress, saying he was devoting all his efforts to his presidential bid, which ended in a stunning defeat to GOP nominee Donald Trump. He reversed his stance in June after dropping out from the presidential race, and re-entered upon pressure from other conservative leaders. Rubio has said that he intends to serve out the full term, meaning if he keeps that word, he will not run for president in 2020. Additionally, in Florida, former Gov. Charlie Crist defeated Rubio ally and incumbent Rep. David Jolly for a congressional seat, effectively completing his political comeback after having switched parties to become a Democrat in 2012 and losing the 2014 gubernatorial race to GOP Gov. Rick Scott.
