Maryland Beats Hawaii, Heads to Sweet 16

For the first time since 2003, the University of Maryland men’s basketball team is heading to the NCAA men’s basketball tournament’s Sweet 16, after a 73-60 victory over Hawaii Sunday night. Melo Trimble scored 24 points and had eight rebounds for No. 5 Maryland (27-8) while Diamond Stone added 14 points. The Maryland Terrapins face No. 1 Kansas next Thursday in the next round. Texas A&M beat Northern Iowa in double overtime to advance, while Wisconsin defeated Xavier with a three-point shot at the buzzer by junior guard Bronson Koenig. Top seed Oregon held off No. 8 seed St. Joseph’s with a 69-64 victory Sunday night.
