Pistol Pete’s reckless cowboy antics have earned him some time away from the range. According to ESPN.com, the New Mexico State mascot has been slapped with a one game suspension, effective at the start of next season, for his attack on Utah State’s mascot at the WAC tournament in Reno earlier this month. Pistol Jumped on “Big Blue’s” back (and tried unsuccessfully to pull him down) after the student outfitted in Utah St’s blue Paul Bunyan-inspired bull costume tore off his mustache on a $100 fan dare. New Mexico State’s athletic director is confident that Pistol will change his renegade ways in the wake of the ordeal: "We discussed it ... and it was a learning opportunity for him. Sometimes you have to turn the other cheek and grow from it."
