A man from Cambridge, Massachusetts, was arrested Thursday after one of his tweets from early July was interpreted by authorities as threatening to ICE agents. The Boston Globe reports that federal authorities grew concerned after Brandon James Ziobrowski tweeted: “I am broke but I will scrounge and literally give $500 to anyone who kills an ice agent. @me seriously who else can pledge get in on this let's make this work.” Federal authorities said this was not Ziobrowski’s only concerning tweet: On March 1, he replied to an ICE field officer who tweeted that agents put their “lives on the line” by writing, “Thank you ICE for putting your lives on the line and hopefully dying I guess so there's less of you?” He also wrote in February that “shooting a cop should get you a medal,” and has repeatedly mentioned his desire to slit U.S. Senator John McCain’s throat, authorities said. Ziobrowski was arrested in Queens early Thursday morning on a charge of “use of interstate and foreign commerce to transmit a threat to injure another person.” He’s set to attend court in Boston on August 15. “You can say all you want that you are against the aggressive enforcement of the immigration laws,” said U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling. “But when you cross the line into threatening peoples' lives, or putting their lives at risk by creating an incentive to hurt people, that you cannot do.”
