Severe weather ripped through southern parts of the U.S. on Tuesday, causing extensive damage in Louisiana. Tornadoes were reported in eastern New Orleans. At least three twisters were confirmed by the National Weather Service to have touched down. Injuries or deaths have not yet been reported, but individuals in the affected areas posted photos and videos on social media showing the devastation. Homes and businesses were leveled, and power lines were knocked down. Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards was en route to New Orleans on Tuesday afternoon, his communications director said.
