Terry McAuliffe was sworn in as Virginia's 72nd governor on Saturday in a rain-soaked ceremony that counted Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton among its guests. Before the ceremony began, McAuliffe met briefly with his predecessor, Robert F. McDonnell, who handed McAuliffe the ceremonial key to the Executive Mansion and wished him well. Since he was elected nine weeks ago, McAuliffe, a Democrat, has courted Republicans and selected moderate Cabinet members in an effort to project an image of bipartisanship.
