Financial Reform

McConnell Softens Tone

Could the GOP be slackening its opposition to financial reform? After weeks of accusing Democrats of supporting unlimited taxpayer bailouts for Wall Street banks, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell struck a more conciliatory tone on Tuesday, saying that "both parties agree on this point: no bailouts. In my view, that's a pretty good start." McConnell urged lawmakers to move beyond “personal attacks and questioning each other’s motives” to “fixing the problems in the bill.” Hopefully he owns a mirror.
