The police officer who slammed a 14-year-old black girl to the ground and pulled his gun on black teens at a pool party has resigned. Eric Casebolt submitted his resignation Tuesday. In a press conference, McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley called Casebolt’s actions “inexcusable” and said he was “out of control.” (Casebolt, who had previously been put on administrative leave pending an investigation, was sued in 2008 for racial animus and excessive force during a roadside search.) “Our policies, our training, and our practice do not support his actions,” Conley said. “He came into the call out of control and, as the video shows, was out of control during the incident.” Charges against the teen Casebolt pinned to the ground have been dropped.
