The Affordable Care Act has done wonders for Medicaid, helping increase its enrollment numbers by 3 million to a total of over 61 million. “The increase in Medicaid enrollments across the country is encouraging,” Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said. According to the Obama administration, which announced the new numbers Friday, states where eligibility for Medicaid expansion was enacted by February (about half them including New York and California) saw enrollment increase by 8.3 percent, while enrollment was only up by 1.6 percent in the states that have not expanded Medicaid. These numbers don’t even include all the people who signed up in March.
