Iran has confounded the world with its refusal to back down from its nuclear ambitions as intelligence analysts around the world warn that it may use its power plant in order to develop nuclear weapons. While the U.S. and UN have imposed sanctions on Iran, America is also boosting another Persian Gulf country as a model for responsible use of nuclear power—the United Arab Emirates. According to the Wall Street Journal, dozens of American engineers, lawyers, and businessmen have traveled to Abu Dhabi to jump start the country's plan to build its first nuclear-power program by 2017. A senior White House official told the Journal that it sees the UAE's plan, which includes an agreement to buy nuclear fuel from abroad rather than enrich its own potentially weapons-grade material, as a "model for the world."
