Rapper Megan Thee Stallion asked for a restraining order to be issued against singer Tory Lanez on Tuesday, claiming that he is harassing her from prison through surrogates. In 2022, Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted of three felonies for shooting Megan in the foot—including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm with negligence. In 2023, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crime. Filed by Megan, whose legal name is Megan Pete, in the Los Angeles Superior Court, the petition asked the judge to prevent Lanez from using third parties to invigorate online harassment against her. “Even now, while behind bars, Mr. Peterson shows no signs of stopping,” the petition read. “Despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Ms. Pete, Mr. Peterson continues to subject her to repeated trauma and revictimization.” The petition claims that call logs from the correctional facility Lanez is being held in show that he’s coordinating attacks on the Traumazine artist. A court hearing on the restraining order has been scheduled for Jan. 9.
