The victims of Monday’s deadly plane crash in Mississippi involving a military transport plane included 15 Marines and one Navy sailor, authorities said Tuesday. Investigators are still trying to determine why the KC-130 air tanker plummeted to the ground in rural Mississippi on Monday afternoon. The service personnel on board the plane, all of whom were killed, were mostly members of an elite Marine special-operations unit on their way to training in Arizona. The names of those killed have not been released, but authorities said some of them were based at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, New York.
