Met to Get $10 Million Fountain

Makeovers

New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art will have its “dreary” fountains remade thanks to a $10 million donation from philanthropist David H. Koch. Koch hopes to see glitzier, “spectacular” fountains like the ones outside Lincoln Center, which shoot “choreographed” water 50 feet into the air. The museum’s exterior lighting will get a major upgrade, and the entire plaza will get a makeover. The Met says the overhaul is in the very early stages of planning for the fountains, which have been dormant for two years.
