New York’s Metropolitan Opera has laid off all of its union employees—including chorus singers and musicians—amid the coronavirus pandemic, NPR reports. According to the outlet, the Met is the country’s largest performing-arts organization. It was forced to cancel rehearsal and performances through March 31, as the coronavirus continues its rapid spread across the nation.
