Mexican authorities said they have arrested four members of the Guerreros Unidos drug gang involved in the kidnapping of dozens of student teachers who disappeared last month and are feared to have been massacred. The announcement came as local media reported that a mass grave has been discovered in a trash dump outside the mountain town of Cocula, near the city of Iguala in the southwestern state of Guerrero. The 43 students disappeared after they clashed with police and masked men on Sept. 26. Authorities say a collusion between Iguala’s mayor and other city officials with the Guerreros Unidos is behind the students’ disappearance.
