A Miami police officer was arrested Wednesday for protecting drug dealers and making sure their transactions weren't busted by other cops. Jose Maldonado-Dick, who has served the Miami area for seven years, was charged with two counts of cocaine trafficking, among other charges. According to arrest forms, Maldonado-Dick orchestrated drug deals and then provided protection for dealers while on duty. In one case, he served as security for a cocaine deal in a McDonald’s parking lot. Since Maldonado-Dick was holding a firearm while involved in the transactions, he faces life in prison.
