Rudy Eugene, the Miami “zombie” who bit the flesh of a homeless man, met his victim years before the May attack, according to a new report. Eugene first encountered Ronald Poppo while handing out meals to the homeless as part of a community-service activity a few years ago. A friend who was with Eugene at the time said, “Poppo seemed like a nice and kind man. I remember when we gave him food.” Eugene destroyed about 80 percent of Poppo’s face during the gruesome attack, which only ended when police shot him to death.
