Nothing “hellish” to see here: First Lady Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni are both denying a new book’s claim that Michelle Obama said life as the first lady is “hell.” “The First Lady never said that,” Michelle Obama’s press secretary, Katie McCormick Lelyveld, tells Politico; a spokesman for the French Embassy says that Bruni “distances herself completely from the content of the book,” which is entitled Carla and the Ambitious. Britain’s Daily Mail has previously said that the book is authorized, but the French embassy says it is not.
