Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette on Friday asked the state’s supreme court to block the hand recount of the state’s presidential election ballots requested by Green Party candidate Jill Stein. “This court cannot allow a dilatory and frivolous request for a recount by an aggrieved party to silence all Michigan votes for president,” Deputy Attorney General Matthew Schneider wrote the court in a lawsuit filed on behalf of Schuette, a Republican who endorsed Donald Trump for president. Schuette and his office argued that the recount effort would be too costly and time-consuming to justify it.
