Microsoft Paint Here to Stay After ‘Outpouring of Support’ From Fans

Won’t be a default Windows program, but app will still be available for download.

Microsoft said Monday that it will keep its Paint program, after announcing last week that it would be killing off the 32-year-old application in a new Windows update. The initial announcement sparked social-media outrage among fans of the classic feature. In response, the tech giant said Paint will still be available for download, but no longer be a default Windows program. “Today, we’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support and nostalgia around MS Paint. If there’s anything we learned, it’s that after 32 years, MS Paint has a lot of fans,” said Megan Saunders, Microsoft’s general manager of the 3D for Everyone initiative, in a blog post. “It’s been amazing to see so much love for our trusty old app.”
