Winter weather and blizzard warnings are posted for southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin as snow and wind intensify. Transportation authorities in Minnesota have asked drivers to stay off the road altogether since reports of 76 vehicle crashes on Saturday morning. Wind conditions are causing low visibility and forecasters predict that the impending snow storm could beat the 1991 “Halloween Mega Storm” where 28 inches of snow fell in the Twin Cities and 37 inches in Duluth. Following the storm will be arctic-low temperatures in the single digits. The weather is causing several school closures including a cancellation of the ACT college test at nearly 50 high schools.
