After two seasons as head coach, Mike D'Antoni has resigned from the Los Angeles Lakers. During those two seasons, D'Antoni’s team went 67-87, and he was seen as one of those most responsible for the team’s woes, particularly by Magic Johnson, who greeted the news of D'Antoni’s departure by tweeting, “Happy days are here again! Mike D'Antoni resigns as the Lakers coach. I couldn’t be happier.” The Lakers will reportedly pick up more than half of next year’s salary, which was $4 million.
