Vice President-elect and outgoing Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is seeking to keep the contents private of an email in which Pence’s administration communicated with a private law firm to help with the state government’s lawsuit against President Obama’s executive actions on immigration reform. An Indiana court sided with the Pence administration in April, which argued that the contents of the email were protected by the state’s Access to Public Records Act. A media professor told The Indianapolis Star that the court was essentially ridding itself of its duty to check another branch of government. But the decision is being appealed, and a court date is set for later this month.
