Mike Tyson: ‘On the Verge of Dying’

After offering a long overdue apology to his former trainer Teddy Atlas as part of the 12 steps to recovery, a very emotional Mike Tyson revealed that he wasn’t doing so well in his battle with alcoholism. “I hate myself. I’m trying to kill myself,” the former heavyweight champion turned boxing promoter told reporters. Choking back tears, he continued: “I wanna live my sober life. I don’t wanna die. I’m on the verge of dying, because I’m a vicious alcoholic. I haven’t drank or took drugs in six days, and for me that’s a miracle. I’ve been lying to everybody else that thinks I was sober, but I’m not. This is my sixth day. I’m never gonna use again.” Good luck, Mike.
