Gay service members will now be able to get married on base by military chaplains, says the Pentagon. The Defense Department issued guidance saying that chaplains may participate in same-sex marriages on or off military bases in states that recognize gay unions. The guidance doesn't require chaplains to participate if it goes against the edicts of their religious order or their personal beliefs. In May, the Navy issued a similar guidance, but then revoked it “pending additional legal and policy review.”
