Military Report Slams Drone Operators

NO EXCUSE

Blames errors for civilian deaths in Afghanistan.

The U.S. has been using predator drones in Afghanistan and Pakistan to target militants, but are the people directing the attacks up to the job? A report by the U.S. military released on Saturday slammed a team of drone operators in Nevada for "inaccurate and unprofessional reporting" that led to the death of 23 innocent men, women, and children in Afghanistan in February when a group of civilian cars were mistaken for an insurgent convoy. Four American officers have been reprimanded over the incident and two junior officers have been disciplined, The New York Times reports. “When we make a mistake, we must be forthright,” Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who apologized to Afghan President Hamid Karzai for the incident, said in a statement. “And we must do everything in our power to correct that mistake.”
