And now a disaster has hit Pakistan: seven coal miners were killed by a methane gas explosion in the southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan on Sunday, a government official reported to CNN. Chief Inspector of Mines Muhammed Iftikhar said 43 miners are still missing, adding "I fear they might be dead considering the depth of the mine." He confirmed that a rescue team has been searching for trapped miners, and that the explosion blast through six mud-walled rooms near the coal mine.
