A Miss America contestant slammed President Trump as the “biggest issue our country faces” at a pageant event in New Jersey on Friday night. Madeline Collins, Miss West Virginia, made the comments when asked onstage what the biggest issue for the U.S. is today. “Unfortunately, he has caused a lot of division in our country,” Collins said of Trump. She did not elaborate on her remarks because the interview portion of the contest was limited to 20 seconds. Collins, who did not win Friday, is not the only contestant to touch on political issues during the first two nights of competition. Miss Virginia Emili McPhail told judges in her onstage interview Thursday that NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem have every right to protest, and that police brutality is the real issue. The next Miss America will be named Sunday night in the pageant finale in Atlantic City.
