Mission: Impossible—Fallout scored big in theaters this weekend with a franchise-best $61.5 million debut and the No. 1 spot at the box office. The sixth installment in the spy saga proved to be the second-best opening of Tom Cruise’s career, behind only 2005’s War of the Worlds. Featuring previous Mission: Impossible stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Michelle Monaghan, and Alec Baldwin, the latest installment also sees Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby join the cast. Second and third place this weekend were claimed by holdovers Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer 2, with $15 million and $14 million, respectively.
