Leon Vincent Taylor, 56, became the ninth person executed in Missouri this year, at 12:22 a.m. on Wednesday. Taylor had been found guilty of killing a gas-station attendant in front of the attendant’s stepdaughter in 1994 during a robbery. He also tried killing the daughter, but his gun jammed. The U.S. Supreme Court turned down his appeal, and Gov. Jay Nixon refused to grant clemency. The execution took place using pentobarbital, and the AP reports, “Taylor’s execution went off without any visible hitches or complications with the drug or equipment.”
